On Satuday afternoon we took the kids and went to gas works park.  Such a cool place, right on the edge of Lake Union.  Anyway, it wasn’t all that late in the day when we arrived, but with daylight savings time over and done with, the sun started setting pretty soon after we got there.  I forgot how early it gets dark all the way up here in the PNW in the winter time.  No, scratch that, I remembered, but it’s kind of like labor, you don’t remember what it’s actually like until you’re going through it again and then you’re like, holy crap (pardon) this hurts.  Anyways, having the sun fully set by basically 5pm is really wigging me out.  I keep thinking, man it’s late, why are we still out and about?  And then I look at the clock and I’m like, oh, it’s 6:15.  Okay then.

By 9 o’clock it feels like midnight.  It’s just so weird.

Speaking of weird, I was having a total fangirl moment for a minute right after we got to Gas Works parks because 10 Things I Hate About You was basically “my movie” in high school.  (I loved Julia Stiles’ sassiness – I was a bit of a feisty wretch back then and her saucy sarcasm just jived with me. Plus Heath Ledger. Singing “Can’t take My Eyes Off of You.” enough said) And everyone knows the quintessential scene in “10 things” is the paint ball scene in gas works park where Heath Ledger tackles Julia Stiles in the hay and then pulls her goggles off and kisses her just so perfectly, right there all covered in paint.  My 16 year old heart still palpitates.  I tried to talk Craig into reenacting that scene with me, but we thought it best not to embarrass our kids in that kind of way.  Maybe next time.

Speaking of my kids, they are getting huge.  Why is this happening so fast?!  Can someone please explain this to me?  I was folding the laundry the other day and I legitimately had to check to see if a pair of pants were mine, or Carters.  But I am also pretty short and I do occasionally shop in the little boys section.  Okay, fine!  Half of what I’m wearing here is from the little boys section.

Which leads me to the point of this post (if there ever is a point-haha) which is that you should think outside the box when getting dressed.  Or perhaps better said, think outside your section and size.  Never be afraid to venture into another size or section (i.e. men’s or little boys) to find pieces that you love and that are “you.”  I wanted just the right fit boyfriend camo pants, and the ones I found that I loved best I found in the little boys section of Old Navy.  This sweater is from the boys sections of JCrew Factory.  I bought this one too.  Craig has this awesome sweater from H&M and I swear if I could fit into an XS men’s anything (dream on Cori)  I would have a matching one.  We would be so cute.  (ha. ha.)

So the moral of the story: buy what you love, and what makes you feel great in your own skin and helps you be the best you. Don’t worry too much about sizes and whether or not you found it in men’s, women’s, plus, or petite.  Think outside your “section.”

Happy Monday!
