Denim Shirt: J.Crew Factory. Jeans: Paige. Scarf: Old Navy. (old. similar here and here.) Bag: Target. Boots: Nordstrom. Sunglasses: Kate Spade.

Some days are just a basic denim on denim kind of day.  But never underestimate the power of the Canadian tuxedo.  I always feel put together when I pair denim on denim.  I’m not sure why, maybe because it’s so matchy that it feels intentional?  Or perhaps it’s just one of those classic pairings that always works??

I like mixing up this basic look by doing it with different jean silhouettes.  Sometimes I pair my denim shirt with distressed boyfriends and a pair of sneakers, other times it’s skinny jeans and riding boots or wellies.  Today, it’s bootcut denim and my favorite booties.  When pair two denims together I like to make sure the washes are different enough that it doesn’t come across as a denim jumpsuit (although even those are pretty fab right now) and doing so gives the otherwise monochromatic look a little depth.

This is such an easy look to do, and it’s one of those “in a pinch” pairings that I pull out when I’m in a hurry, on my period (worst time of the month to get dressed) or just feeling uninspired.  Throw on a blanket scarf and a deep lipstick (it’s fall after all) and I’m all set and feel great.

And a little tip for you.  If you aren’t quite buying the new flared jeans trend, but you like the leg lengthening benefits, try out a pair of bootcut jeans instead.  Very subtle flare and they’ll still make your legs look long and lean. (or at least longer, and leaner if you are me.  let’s face it, my legs will NEVER look long)

This pair of Paige jeans are (I’m convinced) the most comfortable in the world.  But I have a pair of bootcut Hudson jeans that I love as well.  (I’ve had them for 4 years and they still look new, so I think the price tag is worth it.)
