I’m back.

Top, Skirt: Made by me.  Shoes: Thrifted.  Necklace: NY&Co.

I actually wore this outfit a week ago, before I left for my cruise.  And because I’m a slacker and am never as prepared or on time as I estimate I will be, I ran out of time to blog about it before I left.  And then I took the netbook with me and basically didn’t even look or think about it for five days.  Oh, how did the blog world survive without me??

I don’t know about you guys, but I always feel like I need like 3 days to recover after I get home from a vacation.  No matter how much I slept while there.  And believe me, I slept a lot on my cruise.  Probably more than I have slept in about 8 years.  I know, I’m a real party animal.  Anyways, I can’t wait to tell you all about my cruise, and how beautiful Catalina was, and how not in love with Mexico I am, and how much fun I had with my sister Tashi and our friend Kelsey, and about all the odd ducks you find on a cruise ship and how I maybe like gained 4 pounds from all the excess of delicious food at my fingertips while there (hello sushi bar!), so many good things to tell you about.  But right now, I am going to go take a little recovery nap…

A few things first:

1. I am really loving making these tops that match my skirts.  People keep thinking that it’s a dress, but really its a top and bottom.  So much more versatile.  I call them dress separates.  I think I might trademark that term.  I’m sure I’m the first person to use it.
2. I have had a lot of emails about the red striped skirt and I’m going to start getting to those this week.  I bet my sewing machine just missed me so much.
3. Come back tomorrow to find out what I love about Catalina.
4.My little Ethan keeps kissing me and then saying he’s going to “Marry Mommy.”  This of course, is irrelevant, but so cute I had to share.

Yay for getting a little vacay away from reality…sounds like you had a blast! I adore these “dress separates” you’re making…are they from a pattern or are you just whipping them up on your own? I’d love to know! You’re so talented! Welcome back!

  2. Just found your blog, I love it! It’s nice to find another petite with classic tastes. I need to learn how to sew my own clothes, I have a pattern for a cute sheath dress that I’m dying to know how to make!

  4. You really do look fabulous! So I can’t help but wonder if it’s not the same cruise I took in March 2010. We went to Catalina and Ensenada. Loved Catalina, wasn’t in love with Ensenada. At all. But I’ve been to a few other places in Mexico that were very nice. I love cruises-never have gotten to go on one with girlfriends, but have been on 5 with my family.
