superficial.

A few weeks ago I had a keratin treatment done to my hair.  You know, one of those blow-outs.  I know I mentioned getting one like forever ago, but it takes me a long time to decide these kinds of things.
It was the single most expensive thing I’ve ever done for myself.
Followed at a close second by my day at the MAC counter.
Which made me feel a bit superficial.
And then everyday was suddenly a good hair day, and I discovered just how magnificent a world without frizz can be.  A world where I can walk through the rain without panicking about exactly how big this mop is going to get when it dries.
And Mr. keeps telling me how hot my hair is.

So worth it.

Ok, millions of hair questions. Did you get the Brazilian blow out or something different? How long does it last? Does it make a big difference in prep time? Does it impact hair styling adversely in any way (ie, less volume, won’t hold a curl like you want it to, etc). Is your hair naturally wavy and you usually blow it straight, or is it pretty much straight but prone to frizz?

Glad to hear it worked! I booked one for this week but I had a “groupon” for it and it is only costing me $39. Looking forward to it even more now!

Looking pretty sexy bodacious there mama! And yes, a keratin treatment, though pricey, is one of those rare salon experiences where incredible results are absolutely guaranteed, so if you have the ability to splurge I say you are well justified.

Nikki- It’s great for split ends!

Laura- I got the Marcia Keratin Treatment which is a great alternative to the Brazilian without the dangerous chemicals. My stylist said it could last up to 6 or even 7 months, but at the least 4. Cuts my prep time in 1/2 (wahoo!)I haven’t noticed any adverse affects. My hair pretty much does what I want it to when I want it to (big change) and it holds curl better than it did before. My hair is naturally curly and frizzy. And it’s very thick. Everytime I go to have it done the stylist can’t believe how much there is.

Elissa, if you have frizzy hair this is totally worth it. We’re talking life-changer. It took about 3.5 hours for me, but that’s because my hair is really thick and long. And you can’t wash your hair for 4 days, which was torture. But let me tell you, it’s worth it. I can air dry my hair now and it looks fine.

  22. Your hair looks beautiful! I have unruly, thick, curly hair, and as superficial as it sounds, the keratin treatment has dramatically improved my life :) I love being able to go out in rain, snow, or humidity, and still know my hair will stay under control. Well worth the indulgence!

  23. I just got my first keratin treatment in October, it was also the most money I had ever spent on something for myself but SO worth it! I had super curly hair and my hair texture is totally different now. With three boys-4, 3, and 4 months and a deployed husband it has made life significantly easier for me (both in ease of getting ready in the morning and postpartum self-confidence!). I told my husband I’m never going back to my regular hair texture! Yours looks gorgeous, don’t feel superficial, we moms have treat ourselves sometimes!
