The Fourth of July has always been a favorite of mine, even more so this year when I really needed a holiday, if you know what I mean.  Everything is warm and sunny and happy, and you get to light off all kinds of loud, sparkling fireworks, and eat barbecue and make really festive desserts.  We were really lucky to get two days of fun this year.  The littles are still raving about how they got to see The Lone Ranger with one of it’s “real-life movie stars.”  Bryant, aka little Danny Reid, is the son of a family friend who I’ve known since I was a preteen, and it was pretty awesome to see him doing his thing up on the big screen. (Way to go Bryant!)
The funny thing is, after all the heartbreak of the last few weeks, I would have thought I wouldn’t be able to enjoy any of it, but it just makes all the moments laying on blankets watching fireworks, all the bocce ball games, all the treats, warms cuddles, and laughter that much sweeter.  So many gifts from my angel baby already.  Grateful for my faith, my family, and my beautiful country.
Happy Independence Day to you.

Cori, I’m a reader who hasn’t left a comment yet, but I wanted you to know that I really like your blog. It’s so refreshing and so homey and so down-to-earth.

I really want you to know that I was deeply shaken by the loss of your precious Ruby Jane. As a mom of almost 9 children, I have actually had two stillborn babies and 4 miscarriages, two of which were in my second trimester, and one of those was in November. I am now pregnant with Baby #9 on earth. So, you can believe me when I say I understand intensely what you are feeling. Our first stillborn baby, who was born 9 years ago at just short of 7 months into my pregnancy, her name is Jane. So. I wanted you to know that there is really someone out there who has walked where you’re walking and can very much understand. I find myself swallowing the large lump in my throat when I log in to your blog. I sympathize with you and I walk with you too. I have placed two small white caskets just like Ruby’s into the ground. My heart cries for you.

If you want or need to contact me, you can find me at http://www.mysupplications.blogspot.com.

    Take care.

  12. Happy July 4th to you! Hope you’re enjoying your weekend! I’ve been looking forward to this weekend for a while now, probably because the sun/thunderstorms really drained me for the past few weeks!
