When my kids were little I used to read them this book called “Put Me in the Zoo.” It’s one of those Dr. Suess type varieties, where you don’t know what exactly the animal is, but long story short, he’s got spots and thinks he should be put in the zoo. He spends the whole book showing these kids all the things he can do with his spots, proving that he too belongs in the zoo. In the end, they tell him that it’s the circus where he belongs. I really love that book, and I don’t know why I thought of it this morning except that these pants have always reminded me of the animal and his spots, and I like that idea of understanding who you are and being open-minded about where you can belong happily.
