Thanks to everyone for all your kind words/encouragement regarding my bang situation.  I’m happy to report that the bangs and I are starting to play nice, I have a feeling we’re going to be friends in the very near future and at the very least, I’m starting to get used to them.  ;-)

BTW, this baby of mine, isn’t she the most perfect little pudge?  She also refuses to keep anything in her hair and so spends a good deal of most days with this floofy tuft of hair in her eyes.  (See above image.)  I kind of adore it.

So shorts.  I usually steer clear of them, because I’m petite and shorts aren’t particularly flattering on petites– especially those of the Bermuda variety.  I’m also Mormon, so knee length shorts are the only option for me, which means for the most part, I stick with crops, skirts and boyfriend jeans to get through the summer months.  But every once in a great while I find just the right cut/fit and I commit to a pair.  This is one of them.  Thank you JCrew.  Would you like to know my super-secret trick for making your legs look longer whilst wearing shorts?  Nude shoes.  If you are cutting your leg off at the knee, the last thing you want to do is cut it off at the ankle as well.  Throw on a nude pump, or wedge and you’ll add a nice bit of length to your legs.

So there you have it.  Secret no more.

Happy Thursday.

It’s weekend eve!

I have a love/hate relationship with shorts too…it really takes just the right pair which is pretty hard to come by. Nude shoes are fabulous…I’ve been collecting a variety of them lately—my latest pair being some wedges to help my swollen pregnancy feet and legs make it through the last few weeks of baby building without feeling too frumpy :]

Thats a great tip! I love the look. I am short and lds as well, and i have just resorted to looking short in the past wearing knee length shorts! Except if i pair my shorts with wedge sandals to give me some height. I will have to invest in some nude flats i think, to add some illudional height this summer! :)

I’m not a shorts fan either, but it’s because I’m so pale, and self tanner never works well for me, i usually wear them on the 4th of July and that’s it. I’m glad your bags are working out better for you.

I was totally looking at these shorts before I read your post. I am worried they won’t be long enough. I’m only 5’4″ but still makes me nervous! haha

  5. Those shorts are so cute! I agree, I’m 5’2 and LDS also and those long shorts aren’t the most flattering for stubby legs! I tried some on at J.Crew, but I am so stoked to discover that you can buy J.Crew factory online! I did not know that!! And these shorts are half the price of the ones I tried! So glad I read your post. Thanks so much. I always love your posts and am impressed you find time to blog, design all with 4 kidlets! Wow! You are inspiring

I’m short, too, and have trouble with shorts. I have a shorter torso and longer legs, but I’m very pear shaped. I can find some that work from time to time. I needed to replace all of mine this summer, and found some from Eddie Bauer. I bought the same exact pair in 4 colors. That and one pair of “sporty shorts” took care of what I needed. :)

  8. I have the same issue, yet on the opposite side of the scale. Being 6 feet tall, I have the hardest time finding shorts that are LONG enough to be modest and that look flattering. And I totally understand your hair situation too. My hair is so thin, and at 3 months post pregnancy my hair just falls out. Like handful after handful of hair for 2 months straight. My bangs are now just a few strands of hair left. So I pretty much live in a hat 6 days a week and pull my hair up on Sunday to make it semi-decent. Our hair is our identity. Although we get used to it just being there…when it’s gone, or when it changes and we’re not ready for change, it can affect us drastically! Thankfully it does grow, but it does take time and patience.

I never thought to wear nude shoes with bermuda shorts! I have short legs and my quads are pretty muscular and big, so I stay away from knee length shorts as well. I’m going to be brave and try some now with nude heels! Thanks for sharing your secret!!

  13. So smart, Cor!! I was wondering when I saw your instagram post on this… “what could she possibly tell us shorties about wearing long shorts and actually making it look somewhat flattering??”. And you’re right! Nude shoes! I love it. Thanks for the tip. Also, your hair color and bangs look great. It’s a completely new look, and honestly, don’t we all want that? Especially as near middle-age? ;)

My daughter has the same little outfit and her hair almost always looks the same…curly in the back and unruly. I always think it’s good the back is curly or she’d have a crazy looking mullet :) So adorable… both of you!
