Dress: Boden.  Top: Old Navy. Shoes: Target.  Belt: Thrifted. (similar.) Watch: Michael Kors.  Sunglasses: H&M (similar.) Lips: MAC (please me)

Every once in a while I happen upon a dress that I really wish I had designed myself.  You know, one of those fabulous and feminine numbers, with a great cut and an even better print…one of those perfect pieces, that you slip on and think, “I don’t want anything more out of this dress,” and I just really wish I could take some kind of credit for it.  Ah, but alas…  I’m having some kind of love affair with this dress, and I’m okay with it.  I wasn’t really sure if I would adore it as much in real life as I did from the pages of my Boden catalog, especially because getting the fit just right can be tricky in a dress and almost nothing fits me off the rack–er, out of the package.  But then it came, and oh my goodness.  True love.  Boden has already been my go-to for awhile anytime I need a perfect breton striped top and now you can put summer dresses on that list, because this dress has made a number of dreams come true.

And I wasn’t really sure if I’d be nuts about the sleeveless nature of the dress, especially given that I am LDS which means I wear sleeves, but I love all the added layering possibilities.  I’m a layers person.  Layers make me happy.  Good thing I moved back to the PNW, right?

Also, I know that peonies are like the trendiest flower ever right now, but here’s a small confession for you.  Like 95% of the time they aren’t my favorite.  I’m kind of “eh,” about them if you know what I mean.  They’re pretty on bush, but blooming in a vase… I’m just kind of vanilla.  Except these.  These closed peonies I found at Trader Joe’s yesterday with their tight little bulbs just spoke to my non-peony loving heart.  They smell amazing and I suspect they will look fetching for the next few days in the plastic pitcher in which they are sitting on the counter of our corporate apartment.  Which, incidentally was the only thing I could find to put them in.  Someone get me an oversized mason jar, stat.

Happy Wednesday!

Cori, the dress is beautiful! Thanks for sharing. I’d like to purchase the dress but the site is recommending I order 2R when I think the petite would fit me better — what size did you order?

I love that dress…I am surprised how great it looks with the shirt underneath. I used to have a shirt with a very similar pattern years ago.

Peonies aren’t my favorite, either. Not even on a bush.
