Don’t you just love this time of year?  Windows open in the morning, birds singing, warm afternoons, and everything is so green and blooming.  Just the other day all my plants started coming up in my garden, and I have little green strawberries forming on my strawberry plants.  Summer is a great time to freshen up your spaces, and bring a little of the outdoors inside.

A few quick and easy summer refresh ideas for your inside spaces:

Add a pop of color.  I’m not going to lie, my house is mostly blue (I love the color), but I love mixing in some cheerful colors in the warmer months.  Reds and yellows really brighten up a space and it doesn’t take much.  A throw pillow, or a vase will do the trick.

Pretty patterns.  I’m all about stripes, and they are an obvious choice for summer, but pretty florals and modern tile prints are gorgeous this time of year and really mix it up.  Consider adding a chair or rug with a great bold print.

Subtle coastal pieces.  Without becoming too kitsch, adding some nautical inspired pieces is a great way to bring nantucket into your living room.  I love nautical art and pieces with texture.

Bring wicker indoors.  We typically associate wicker with the outdoors, but it can add gorgeous texture to your living spaces.  Think baskets, or even chairs.

Add some greenery.  Bring something green and alive into your living spaces.  It will wake up your whole room. I love these textured planters.

One word for you.  Lanterns.
