my holiday survival kit.

Can you believe that it’s Christmas Eve tomorrow?  I’ve been running around like a mad woman for the last two days, finishing up gifts, wrapping presents, getting groceries, and then doing all those fun festive things that make Christmas feel like Christmas.  During the busy-ness of the holidays I’ve got a few key pieces that I pull out in a pinch to keep me feeling holiday ready without a lot of fuss.  Think of it as my little Holiday Survival Kit.

Red Lips/Red Nails.

This is the time of year when I want a bold red lip and nails.  They’re so fun and festive. Even if I’m wearing something neutral and basic, the second I put on a little red lipstick or paint my nails red I instantly feel Christmasy.  My favorite red lipsticks are: MAC: Russian Red and Nars: Jungle Red. (both of them are great matte lipsticks that stay on FOREVER) My favorite nail colors are: Essie: Really Red, and OPI: Big Apple Red. (OPI is a thicker polish and requires less layers and lasts longer without chipping.)

My Red Pom Beanie.

I have been LIVING in this red pom beanie.  I knew I loved it when I bought it a few weeks ago, but it’s turned out to be my favorite purchase this holiday, so far.  It’s super cozy, goes with so many things and the red pom really adds a fun festive touch.

Red Heels.

Every woman need a great pair of red pumps, especially at Christmastime.  Throw them on with a little black dress, and boom: it’s a Christmas dress.  Pair them with slacks, or even jeans and turn any outfit into a holiday look.

A little Sparkle.

Whether it’s a great pair of earrings or a vintage inspired necklace, I love a little extra sparkle at Christmas.

The perfect tights.

hanes tights

I live in tights this time of year because, holy-batman it’s cold and rainy right outside.  If I’m wearing a dress or skirt you can pretty much bet I’m wearing tights as well.  I love hanes tights because they can take a hit and keep on coming without running immediately, which is kind of important when you’re a mom with 4 kids running around/climbing all over you.  Also, please and thank you on the control top of this pair especially this time of year because: #toomanysugarcookies.  I wore these all day yesterday with my Hunter rainboots and a wool skirt, sloshing around in the rain, Christmas shopping, running errands and they looked perfect at the end of the hectic day.

Voila! My holiday survival kit.
