There is nothing quite like a warm summer day in Seattle.  While the rest of the west is hot, dry, brown and dusty this time of year, the Pacific Northwest is green with clear blue skies.  Granted, we have definitely endured a wet year, and even a colder summer to get that constant green, but really it’s quite a beautiful thing and I appreciate it even more after driving across a very smokey Eastern Oregon on my way home from our road trip last week.  I’ve never been so happy to come over Snoqualmie pass and see the clear blue skies over Seattle and the dark waters of the Puget Sound.

The other evening as we were shoving our kayaks out onto the water to set our crab traps overnight, I looked over Puget sound to Whidbey and Camano Island.  The sun was getting ready to set and the water was lapping gently on the shore the way it always does and I couldn’t believe that a place like this actually exists.  All the mountains and trees in every direction you look, boats dancing across the water, driftwood beaches and clean clear air almost every day of the year.  A setting sun sending orange and yellow and purple light across the top of the water.  It was the prettiest thing I’d seen in a long time.  I really do love summer in the Pacific Northwest.

I picked these pants up about a month ago and I’ve probably worn them at least once a week since (maybe twice).  They are the best, most comfortable pants ever.  Plus they’re totally cute, casual and I love the girlfriend fit.  Sometimes, I just need a break from skinnies and these are a perfect alternative.  They come in a bunch of colors too, so naturally I bought two… ;-)
