I love fall in the city. The leaves are dropping, the air gets crisp, and there’s a different kind of bustle than in those warm summer months. It’s a great time to go shopping and grab dinner, pop into a quiet book store, or see a show downtown. It makes me want to get all dolled up for a night out or for no reason at all.
Can I let you in on a secret? I used to be rather self-conscious. Maybe it has something to do with being really petite or just being a girl (haha) but for a long time, I didn’t want to draw any attention to myself. I dressed intentionally bland, because I thought that was t
he best way to blend in. Then one day I woke up and realized, that’s boring!
And it isn’t really me.
Who wants to be bland, when there are so many great, gorgeous things to wear. So I started collecting great patterns and pretty colors, antique brooches, and fun shoes.
The first time I left the house wearing something I really loved, that really felt like me, someone asked me why I was all dressed up.
Um, do I need a reason?
Dressing for yourself is empowering. There’s nothing better than living your life like the star of your own show.
So I buy myself flowers for no particular reason, I put on a little extra lipstick even if I’m not leaving the house, and I twirl around my kitchen to my favorite Michael Bublé album while I cook dinner. I’ve learned what I love and I wear it fearlessly.
This fall, I’m all about feminine silhouettes, pretty floral prints, and big curls. About soft pink lipstick, moody blues, 30’s inspired accessories and sky high heels.
I’m crushing hard on kate spade new york’s new line this season, inspired by the saucy sirens of the stage, with a touch of the 30’s. Great gorgeous floral prints in jewel-toned blues and purples, big plaids and drapey chiffons. Structured shirt dresses with delicate prints, and all the gorgeous and quirky bags a girl could dream of. I’m loving the longer more dramatic hemlines, and these double buckle shoes… just yes.
What I love most about kate spade new york is the way the brand celebrates the fabulous quirky nature of the individual. The way it encourages every woman to be the star of her own show.

I love the shoes….and how your feet don’t touch the ground when you’re sitting on the bench ;)
I know right?! Life of a shorty. I just own it now because, I’m 33. I don’t think I’m getting any taller. haha!
What an honor to work with Kate Spade! I am loving this dress and the way you put it all together. Very feminine and preppy :)
