You guys know I love to design tablescapes for holidays. It’s one of my favorite things to create this time of year. I literally spend weeks before Christmas and thanksgiving coming up with my plans for our tables. It’s so much fun. This year I’m doing a modern farmhouse thanksgiving tablescape (no surprise, I’m sure) but I’ve had so much fun playing with colors and textures for this table. I love to incorporate lots of fun elements into my designs, and this one is one of my favorites yet.
similar table. similar chairs. white dishes. napkins. chargers. stemware. napkin rings. pitcher. lambs ear. garland. burlap table runner. ticking stripe table runner.
When I am designing a tablescape I usually start with one piece in mind, whether that’s a charger, a centerpiece, or a set of napkins, and build the look from there. I picked up these gingham napkins earlier this year while working on a different project, and I was so excited because I knew I could use them over and over again in lots of different tablescape themes over the year (they’re like a perfect capsule piece for your kitchen ;-). I started with those this year, and knew I wanted a modern farmhouse style tablescape with lots of natural elements and a ton of great texture. I stuck with some simple white plates for the flatware. (I really recommend buying white dishes, they are so versatile.) I brought in the chargers I bought for last thanksgiving’s table (another great kitchen capsule piece) and layered the French ticking stripe runner I bought at an antique market this summer with a longer burlap runner. I brought in lots of white pumpkins, and one big dark green pumpkin with tons of character for the centerpiece. Then I flanked it with two farmhouse pitchers filled with lambs ear. To give the table just a little more green I added some garland as well.
I love how bright and fresh everything feels. The best part is, you can create this entire tablescape with one quick amazon order, all of the pieces are very reasonably priced, and best of all, all the pieces can be used over and over again for years to come in lots of different ways. When I buy, even for my home I try to be very mindful that the pieces can be used in lots of versatile ways. The challenge of using these pieces to restyle over and over again, really sparks my creativity and frankly it’s just a whole lot of fun.
