Happy Monday everyone! I hope you had a lovely weekend! My kids are off school for the next 3 days for winter break and we plan to make the most of it! Lots of baking and enjoying the cold weather. Are you doing anything fun for President’s day?
I’ve been making a conscious effort to unplug on the weekends and it has been so beneficial for my mental health. I highly recommend it! Over the weekend we worked on some house projects; finally got the subfloor in on our stair remodel! We had to rebuild bunch of the old floor beams in the basement which was TRICKY, but now we’re ready to move on to building out the pantry wall, and the stairs! I am so excited. The progress on this project has been slow, but that’s also real life. HGTV definitely gives you unrealistic expectations about how long things actually take to get done. Especially when you are remodeling a 230 year old house. You literally never know what you’re going to find when you open up a wall. ;-) But I have found that when I stop worrying about trying to finish things fast, and just focus on enjoying the process, every bit of progress is so exciting. I love seeing this house change and come back to life, little by little.
On Saturday, Ava and I went ice skating with her little activities group from church. She was so cute and funny. The most fearless child I’ve ever had, I swear. Winter has been so fun this year, because we’ve had a lot of snow, and we’ve just really embraced all the outdoor things you can do with snow and ice. There really is no inappropriate weather for kids.
