it fit, but not really.

Blazer: The Loft.  Green Pants, T-shirt, Ring, Shoes: Target.  Scarf: American Eagle.  Purse: Thrifted.

I tried on a blazer at H&M yesterday.

And it fit– but it didn’t really fit.

Do you know what I mean?

I mean it fit all around, but the darts landed about 2 inches below where they are supposed to, and the arms stopped at my fingers instead of my wrists.

This is one of those situations where I really curse my shortness.

I cannot find a brown tweed blazer that fits.

The Loft is my go-to when I want something super tailored that I can’t fudge into looking like it fits.

And guess what?

They don’t have a brown tweed blazer this season.

Pooh.

So here’s a question:

Should I buy the H&M one and shell out the money to have it altered.

(I hate paying for alterations.  But, I’m not going to attempt that one myself.)

On the bright side,  I do have the world’s best husband.  Who comes home from work and suggests we take the kids and go to Panera for dinner.

This has nothing to do with my clothes, but any time I don’t have to cook, I feel it should be shared with the world.

I saw the cutest brown herringbone tweed blazer at Old Navy. It was $80. I’m waiting for a sale because it was love at first sight. Here it is:

Eh…There will be others. So what if they aren’t brown tweed?

I like your outfit and your hair. How did you style your hair on this day?

I love your hair I am now growing mine back out, in an attempt to look more my age. My husband and I are youth pastors and I get mistaken for a teen everywhere we go, I’m 30!
your blog has inspired me to dress my age and look HOT. And now I know the clothes are out there, and I dont have to shop at the teen stores.
    Thanks!, Jess

  5. Your babies are so precious! I love your outfit! I would only but the jacket from H&M and have it altered if it is something that you absolutely cannot live without at this very minute. Otherwise, I would wait and continue to be on the lookout for one that fits without alterations :)

  6. Agreed. I love when Patrick comes home with a pizza box in hand. Luxury at it’s finest for a mom.

You (and the kiddos) always look so put-together. This is my motivation! And your hair looks great. Mine is really long and I wanna cut it short, but then I see pictures like this and think of how much I’ll miss it.

  9. If the jacket only needed a minor change that would be one thing, but it sounds like there’s a bit more to those alterations. I agree with @Candy Apple Fashion, maybe wait for one that is a better fit. (Patience is not my strength, so I can’t say that I always walk the walk on these matters.)

@Marie – Old Navy is having a 25% off sale and it ends today. Code is “ONSAVE25”. ;-)

Love your hair! Maybe wait a little bit and the stores will get new merchandise? Sounds like the blazer would need a lot of alterations. Good luck though :)

  11. I say pass. If you’re going to shell out the dough for alterations, grab a higher quality jacket than H&M so it will last for years!
