americana.

I happened upon the loveliest little neighborhood the other day.  Quaint, pretty little houses all lines up with green lawns, lots of flowers and flags draped from the porches.  The sun was getting ready to set, but it wasn’t dark yet, just nice.  It was so perfectly Americana, my heart almost burst.  And I thought to myself, this must be one meaning of the pursuit of happiness.  How could you be anything but happy on a street like this.  I wish everyone lived there.  Me included.
I’ve noticed how easy it is to fall into a funk lately, what with my hormones acting like they run the place and Mr constantly out of town on business (boo.), but letting myself be swallowed up in the little things that bring me joy seems to work wonders.
Here are a few:
wearing bright colors, laying in the sunshine, eating sliced strawberries, fresh vacuum lines in the carpet, the sound of the dishwasher running, a really fluffy bed, baby cheeks (of all varieties), pretty flats (preferably with bows), doing pilates, opening the blinds in the morning, smelling freshly mowed grass, chocolate chip frappuccinos, dreaming about living on a farm, feeling a breeze on my face, singing as loud as I want to in the car, an extra large Dr. Pepper…
What does it for you?

PS. this outfit has been on serious repeat.  Having a go-to also makes me happy.

  1. What a cute outfit! Yellow always makes me happy. I have a pair of yellow shoes that I wear if I’m in a funk – they bring a smile on my face no matter what.
What also works for me is good weather, sunglasses, a good book and a cup of coffee. :)

Lately for me it has been talking to my five year old, she just cracks me up! Wearing bright colors helps too. That green grass looks wonderful; waiting on spring here in CT…

Our list of happy-makers would pretty much be the same. Except the frappucinos and flats. I don’t have either of those…but now I’ll think about getting some, and try them out :)

  10. you always look so great, it’s irritating!!! haha. i joke. but seriously. you put colors together that i wouldn’t normally pick, but you make them look perfect together. i am jealous of your lovely spring warm weather, although we are supposed to be in the mid 60’s by the end of the week, so that will be nice!

and things that make me happy? the fresh lines from the vacuum is a winner for me as well :) and the smell of the steam from the freshly washed dishes in the dishwasher is also one of my favorites!

I LOVE the Agritopia neighborhood too! It’s so darling and gives us off such a friendly vibe. The coffee shop and restaurant in the neighborhood is adorable too :)

My “go-to” happy remedy for me is watching the Disney channel with my nieces in our pjs with a bowl of popcorn or something sweet :)

  15. Cute shoes! Love your necklace too.

My small pleasures: leisurely weekend coffee time, being outside during the magic hour, freshly painted nails, MAC lipstick, yoga pants, fresh sheets, a clean house, dangly earrings, texting my BFFs.

I need to add some bright colors to my wardrobe! I have been in a funk lately… I think this may get me out. Well actually getting out of my PJs would probably work wonders. Im in that stage of my pregnancy where your old jeans are super uncomfortable but the maternity jeans sag everytime you take 5 steps. Bright colored skirts and dresses… thats the ticket.

I too dream of living on a farm, love extra large Diet Dr Peppers and love my sweet babies chubby cheeks!

It’s soo important to remember the little things that make us happy.
Always having fresh flowers, preferably orchids or peonies in pretty glass vases is my go to happy little thing.
My happiest moment this week was while horribly ill I had my mom visiting me (I live in Singapore and she’s in Iceland) and we watched a disney movie together while holding hands, like when I was a little girl. Then she got me a Disney Princess mini easter egg and inside was a tiny Belle, my favorite princess.

What cute little flats! I’m a big fan of the bow. I think everything looks better with a bow. Just look at my Fun Stuff board on Pinterest and you’ll see.

I have a cute pair of bow flats from TJ Maxx in a Robin’s egg kind of color that I got on clearance for $25. Reminded me of those gorgeous gold and mint Kate Spade bow heels on my Fun Stuff board. Best shoe purchase at TJ Maxx to date.
