outfit inspiration: spring favorites.

pink trench. tan trench. lace blouse. ruffle sweater. breton striped tee. french tee. cropped jeans. navy paper bag waist culottes. lemon dress. pink loafers. brown loafers. straw bag. straw bag with leather handle. cult Gaia bamboo cage bag.

Continuing on yesterday’s theme of dressing for spring (with or without the weather’s cooperation) I thought it would be fun to round up some of my favorite spring styles, and trends for the coming season.  Share your favorites in the comments!

The tencel trench.  This drapey take on the classic silhouette is perfect for warmer weather because it’s lightweight and layers beautifully.  Plus the fabric is basically heaven.  You will never guess where I found this tan one or the price, but I am loving this soft pink option as well.

Loafers.  They were everywhere last year and some of the best pairs sold out so early in the season (I’m looking at you Madewell Elinor loafer) so if you see a pair you love, snatch them up.  Also, fun fact about me, I had a genuine pair of penny loafers in 5th grade and they were my favorite pair of shoes. (yes I had an actual penny in them) I wore them almost every day (with little white foldover socks) and they were my pride and joy.  This was also the same year I wore a beret to school.  I was very preppy and weird.

Straw bags.  One of my very favorite things about summer is carrying these charming straw bags around.  I have this one and I love it so much.  I also have the cult gaia cage bag that always sells out so fast, and it is my favorite spring/summer statement piece I have ever purchases.

Cheerful printed dress. Every woman needs at least one fun/quirky and cheerful printed dress for the spring season.  I adore this lemon wrap one, how cute is it?

Cropped culottes.  Looks like they’re coming back again, and I am thrilled.  One of my favorite warm-weather silhouettes.   I am obsessed with this paper-bag waist pair.  I’ve been stalking it non-stop hoping it comes back in my size. (Fingers crossed.)

Straight leg-cropped jeans.  These jeans are everywhere right now, and I think they are a great style, especially if you have trouble pulling off the high-waisted trend.  They are much more forgiving than skinny jeans.

Spring tees.  I love it when the weather starts to warm up again because I can start incorporating tees back into my rotation.  During winter they’re just a layering piece under my thick wool sweaters, but in the spring they’re perfect for making a fun statement.  I am loving both of these french inspired styles.  I first discover petite bateau when we were in Paris, and we passed one of their shops every day walking from our Air BNB in Montmartre.   Plus, nautical is a big trend this spring.  Loving the embroidered tee as well.

Lacey ruffled shirts.  Oh, how I love all the delicate fabrics that emerge when the weather warms.  How swoon-worthy is this top?  I wish it wasn’t sold out in my size, I saw someone style it with overalls the other day and it was insanely cute with them.

Spring sweaters.  What can I say, I’m a sweater girl, and I love the lighter weights, colors and pretty embellishments that the springy weather seems to inspire.

Sunglasses.  Because it’s coming out tomorrow, or the next day (or next month) but it’ll come out and I’m always in the mood for some Karen Walkers.  I have another pair in this style, and they are the sturdiest sunglasses I’ve ever owned.  Plus they look good on everyone.  Even someone with a round face like me.  ;-)

Also, just wanted to pass along that the Shopbop Designer sale on sale is happening right now.  Awesome pieces marked down up to 75% off.  This sweater that I have is on sale, as well as this great tencel trench, and a bunch of other great pieces.  (Basically anything on sale is an extra 25% off.)
