saturday night.

Pants/Jacket: Loft.  Chambray Shirt: H&M. Wedges: Nine West.

World, I’d like you to meet my pants.

Why is it that as soon as I get pregnant, Loft comes out with the most fabulous Ikat linen pants ever known to man?  And in two colors no less.

I was sick, sick I tell you, imagining how these would be more than long gone before this new little was anywhere near ready to make it’s entrance into the world.  So I went ahead and ordered them.  And I am happy to report that because the waist sits nice and low, and they are a lovely wide-leg pant I can wear them now, even 20 weeks pregnant.

Take that Motherhood Maternity!

Also, I think you should know, I bought them in the navy shade as well.

Can you blame me?

They are linen.

And Ikat.

You may be aware of my deep and undying love for both of these things.

Anyways, I wore these when Mr. took me out for our date on Saturday night.  We’re pretty religious about our dates.  They’re kind of a big deal.  It’s important when you’ve got 3 littles and no family living close by to get away and be alone.   The business of running a family is a lot of work and a lot of times it’s hard to remember that we are both still people who need to think about things other than work and getting the laundry done and the bills paid, and the next order of fabric in, and the kids fed, and the oil changed and who has dance and who needs help with their homework, etc etc.

See what I mean.

Dates are sacred.

Saturday night we went to a charming little Dim Sum place in Issaquah and had duck and all kinds of fabulous dumplings and Mr. talked all about China and how he wanted to take me to Shanghai someday, because it’s like the New York of the orient.  Then we went to the bookstore and wandered around together until we found a healthy little stack of books to look through while we got dessert and hot chocolate in the cafe.  So we sat there eating our Cheesecake and talking about our love for classic literature (he’s more Hugo/Dumas and I’m more Austen/Bronte) and how excited I am that he’s going to read Hemingway, and I can’t believe I never thought to suggest that before.  And we talked about how obsessed we both were with Atlas Shrugged over the entire Christmas break, reading hours on end everyday and it still took weeks to finish that book.

I mean it’s a really long book.

Anyways, do you want to know the only thing I could think all night sitting across the table from that guy?

“Man, I love him.”

ps. if you are interested in these pants, I they had a significantly larger amount of stock in stores as of last week even though they are pretty much sold out online…

You’re welcome.

  4. Ditto about the sacredness of date night when you have no local familial support!
And I *loved* when I could get non-maternity clothes to work with the expanding belly! They look great.

I am way impressed re: Atlas Shrugged. I tried to read it. I really, really did. But after about page 150, I decided that life is too short to read books I can’t get into. But I wish I could have!!
